Non-Constants
Non-Constants stems from an ongoing collaboration with artist Jesse Meredith. Exchanging practices by working in one another’s studios, trading primary research sources and conducting structured conversations about our own personal experiences with race and safety, we confront radicalized experienced of American-ness.
Presenting work from this exchange, Non-Constants uses a technique of doubling. We each produced work using sentiments pulled from stories told by the other, duplicating them with subtle shifts, displacing the context away from our individual identities, asking questions about authenticity, access, and authorship.
Non-Constants was shown at The Annex at Spudnik Press in Chicago, from January to March 2019.
Screen prints, photographs, graphite drawings.
